NEW YORK STORIES PART 1

Yeah my lovely folkes...whas gwanin..
So yeah we have alooot to catch up on! (like my use if the word "aloooot"? lmao?)

Sorry its what they say in NY..

...Anyhow as i write this from my hotel room in times sq, with the sun streaming in the windows I feel like i should be outside but can't be arsed.
Simple as that.

So i'm watching the 5 channels that are worth watching on general tv, currently watching an old episode of Girlfriends ( Yes I miss my ladies!) - that all come with either a gazillion car adverts, sue somebody adverts orrrrrr food adverts!

I'm really fiending for some Cadburys - I don't know what it is but the Cadburys chocolate out here is noooot the same. (noooooot...hahahaha...)

HERES A FUNNY PIC:

Anyway lemme stop chatttin shit..i promised an update on my NY trips...and its been so long i have to give ya 2..so here goes the first part...

So you probably know i'm signed to john legend's Homeschool records, w Vaughn Anthony as my fellow artist and brother...(Teaching the world how to make G.O.O.D music - you like that don't you??...You like that.

Yes i've been out here working on my album,.people are real happy with the songs we're coming with...the label (Atlantic US,
homeschool records), the producers....
On the last trip I worked w swizz beats..@ wyclef's studio...he said "How do I compete?" when i played him the demo's. the whole room was buggin - period. while i was truly ecstatic...i kept thinking

"hmmm how many people actually like the songs and aren't just oversmiling for the sake of John being in the room"

Also did some sessions w wyclef 3 songs in 2 days (yes some artists actually work in the studio!)...he said continually "your the closest to lauryn i've known period. Like he was truuuly bugging. i felt happy and in the same breath like yeah but i'm me...i didnt see a fugee or lauryn hil show till 2 years ago...when they were doing their comeback...

then we had a soundclash...me and JD (dready from london/so solid - thats his hand in purple w the watch on in the pic) and vanessa amadi (VA-PR)she took it so she's not in it. Twas bare fun...
Now weeee won cos they started pulling out special dubplates and we were going off the laptop...

I also worked with legendary philly production team Dre and Vidal...very talented guys very talented guys...

In between all this wonderful affirmation that "I'm hot!" this there are bouts of doubt...you see Americans have a way of inflating things so they seem huge - generally with the exception of John and 3 others - he's so british its scary he should'a been born in London - I tell ya...really (not sucking but - ya'll have no idea how great it is to be around that much honesty in this business..) But I suppose this works for the US - its made em a rich/powerful country right? (Answers below pls...)
I mean i said this to my mate Liv she always reassures me that i'm fly and that john wouldn't have me here unless I was dope! (yeah my girls got my back - what!!!) which i do know...but i'm fully aware that I'm a novelty for alot of folk "the british girl" they borderline expect me to be an "eeeediat" because of:

The fact that I look young,
The artists that have come before me
The fact that i'm a girl..

It PAINS me to have people ask me what age i am every so often...maybe I act young.
I don't think i do...i just don't feel the need to shout and from the rooftops how great i am or who i am - i know god knows and my mum knows. I think thats enough?...the world will know once i let my actions and the work speak for themselves...don't you think thats a better way of doing things?
opinions in the posts section pleaassssee...

I mean yes folks...it's still that fucking hard out here for a chiiick... (answers below)
i think its pretty redundant - i mean its ridiculous
- WHICH REMINDS ME last week in NY: there's been this big hullabaloo about using offending words "n*****" "B****" and "H*" hahaha...i think if you act like a bitch you get called one, you act like a ho you get it. as far as the N word - its just Not ok for people across the board (ready other races than black to use it..it just is more offensive because of the way it was originated - don't ask me why it just is how it is. Censoring the words won't stop people from using them at all..I say to oprah etc stop kidding yourselves...people will do what the the fuck they want to!
I mean thats like saying locking up or killing a person who's comitted a crime stops someone else from comitting a crime.if that were true the US prison system and all its benefittors would be broke would be broke..

Aaaaaaaanyway...so we come out with 6 more bangers.. to add to the 20 already taken down from 60 +...(yes i work....)

I mean each time i'm here, I make a whole new album to the point i have 2 back to back! I think God has me working like this cos he knows i'm gonna be veeeeeeery busy for the next couple years...cannot wait!

Part 2...prom dresses , Tour dates Brooklyyyn and Cupcakes...

luv ya!xx

Okay... Where to start???

Firstly 'Mr John' def would not have joined 'your journey' and allowed you to become part of his if he didn't believe in you and your raw talent.

You have every right to question people's sincerity, because some people are fake like that and will say anything to 'buy face'. Just make sure you don't doubt your talent in the process. As long as you are honest with yourself all will be good.

Things are never easy for a 'young' woman in a world that men have been 'dominating' for so long. Just so you know: there is nothing with 'seeming' young. Your music says that you have the maturity not to take yourself SO seriously all the time.

I'm not entirely sure I agree with you on the b*&ch and 'h*&' comment. We tend to forget the power of words and the people that use them, but that is another story all together.

I CANNOT wait for your stuff to finally drop. Keep smiling that beautiful smile... See you at the top!

(Can't believe how long this 'comment' is)
