    Good Evening #mydarlings.

It is no secret to most that I have been happy to call NYC my home off an on for the 4 years I've lived in the US. What has happened to my city and the surrounding areas in the last few days has broken my heart. That I was away while it was happening has made me ache to my core. Ache is useless unless you choose to do something about it.

First, let me send positivity and prayers out to all of those who have suffered as a result of Hurricane Sandy. To those without power or basic necessities, please continue to push through. You are all survivors and shining examples of the unbreakable spirit that makes this country so great.

Next, I would like to send out my deepest thanks and appreciation to our heroes; our first responders who have worked to rescue those who have needed it or who may not have heeded the warnings, to the power workers who worked 24-36 hour shifts to try and help people maintain their quality of life, to the volunteers and neighbors who have opened their homes and hearts to friends giving everything they had, be it food, shelter, a bed to rest a weary head, a shower, anything at all to those who have either been displaced or who find themselves without in the wake of this awful storm.

Lastly, I would like to implore, no, beg #mydarlings who have been spared from the inconveniences of this storm to reach out and help someone else. Do not rest on your laurels simply because your power and internet and cable have been uninterrupted. Do not turn a blind eye at the misfortune of others simply because your refrigerator and pantry are full. Please, PLEASE do something today to help someone else.

It is in this same spirit of giving and #DOing something to make a difference in someone's life, that I am beyond honored to be a part of BLACK GIRLS ROCK and present the M.A.D. (Making A Difference Award) this Sunday, November 4th, 2012 at 7pm on BET.  I have been deeply touched by all of you who through your solace and support of one another have each been Making A Difference. Keep up the amazing work. If you can, be sure to tune in this Saturday to watch the show. Love you #mydarlings!
