A wildly ambitious woman of her time, Mildred Hemmons Carter became the first black woman pilot in Alabama.

Saluting Josephine Baker for BLACK HISTORY MONTH

on February 05, 2012

#daaaarlings.... Can you imagine how EPIC the halftime show for today's SuperBowl would be if Ms. Josephine Baker (at her prime mind you) was performing in it?

Honeeeeyyyyy....The glamor, the costumes, the voice!  Madame Baker has ALWAYS been one of my mentor aunties in my head.  She found fame crossing the pond from St. Louis to Paree and I did the opposite; left Londontown to come to the states.  Being able to to do that shows how far we as women performers of color have come and it is due in part to this EPIC performer and amazing philanthropist.
